'Holiday parties liven Carefree social scene By NORMA H. RICHERT Carefree Social ' The holiday season contin-; ues to roll merrily on. Vin-; cent and Beverly Thelander (. welcomed friends at the Desert Forest Golf Club for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. They were d e 1 1 g h t e d that their three children and their spouses could join the festivities. Nedra and Bob came from Lansing, Mich., Sandy and Bill from Tucson and Joan and Larry Wexler from Scottsdale. Beverly chose a gold lame gown; Dorothy Welch wore a long, multicolored one. Iris Darlington was in an orange - gold floor length dress and Lucille Heidel in a black pantsuit. Carol and Ed Swiedler came down from their remote ranch (no telephone, even) ; Mac and Marian McJunkin came from west Cave Creek and were delighted the creek has been dry for awhile. The Barney Burnses, George Pales and Ralph Staggses came out from Phoenix. Jacque Traner had a beautiful holiday tea for the ladies. Champagne punch was followed by delectable goodies and sweets the talented hostess had made herself. The gingerbread men, decorated cookies, breads and nuts brought back memories of a wonderful old - fashioned get together. Her decorations throughout the house were gorgeous as always and her gold and green Christmas tree outstanding. Jacque chose a shocking pink dress and her twin sister, Evelyn Anderson, from Phoenix, wore a white outfit. Jane Franz, Ethel Lewis, Marian Luchs, Betty Widau and many, many more enjoyed a great afternoon. ; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Shep-ard entertained with an intimate dinner party. The Dan Traners, John Cookes, Richard Crawf ords, Herbert Watts, Mrs. Fran LaFarge and Mrs. John H, Barrett enjoyed the ham mousse, eggplant casserole, salad, and homemade rolls and cookies prepared by their Austrian cook, Anna. The unique dining room was modeled after Correspondent Mrs. Thorn's miniature Mexican dining room in San Francisco and the warmth from the corner fireplace was cozy in this cold weather. Fran LaFarge was in New York and Dick Crawford finally arrived, having been in Texas for a board meeting and delayed by a late plane. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Burns have just completed redecorating their lovely home, using the same decorator as Mrs. Richard Nixon. A recent gourmet dinner party was enjoyed by many Care-freeites. The Cush Morses are back after a visit in San Diego to visit her mother, Mrs. Archie Applegate. Bernina 830 A new Sewing machint for the new woman!
