Other watering places for dudes make up Wickenburg's Desert Sun Ranches, hold their spot in the winter sun because only in this rugged setting can the East go completely western. The rich traditions of the old Vulture mine Henry Wickenburg who found it in 1863 of Pauline Weaver and his tireless quest for gold and glory for a new territory of the Wickenburg Massacre of the Hassayampa and the Walnut Grove tragedy when floodwaters crumbled Arizona's first irrigation dam of cowboys, prospectors and stagecoaches all these make Wickenburg what it is, the Guest Ranch Capital of the World. Western atmosphere is found among the 4,500 residents of Wickenburg in a measure that would be lost in a metropolis. Even the friendly inter-ranch activities carried on by the Flying Bar, Los Ca-balleros, Monte Vista, Remuda, Slash Bar and Triangle ranches smack of the West.
