British spokesman emphasises today that their cruiser problem la complicated by the fact that during the Word War Great Britain built number of vessels for scouting and patrolling In the North Sea.

Now that the menace of the German high seas fleet has been removed these vessels have been found useless for the navy's general peace time work In other waters. For example If such ships were operate in the Red Sea the Persian Gulf or the Indian Ocean, larger and cooler quarters would have to be provided for their crews, otherwise the sailors would be "literally cooked' under rhe steel decks. These overhaulings In the interest of humanity, it was stated, would cause a considerable Increase the British tonnage quota. The same spokesman pointed out that Great Britain, instead of being ahead of cruiser construction. actually behind because during the war ehe was building ships for short cruising radius and not for her general needs.

Finally, he declared, although Great Britain would be able to use some obsolete obsolescent vessels for convoying freighters she would need newer and faster cruisers to convoy such fast liners as the Mauretanla, Aquitanla, Berengaria and Majestic, dnce the ppeed of a convoy obviously is that of its slowest unit. Much interest has been aroused conference circles by announcement that Sir Esrae Howard, British ambassador to the United States will visit President Coolidge. Delegates are speculating whether the visit will bring increased chances of negotiating a limitation treaty here. all the power that can be generated either at Boulder Canyon or the more favorable location, Black Canyon, would be contracted for even before the dam was completed. This power use should be of benefit to the upper basin states from the development of a metropolitan area in Southern California which would provide markets for products of these states, not alone agricultural but raw materials." Reports of other members of 'He advisory group will be given Dr.

Work at sessions tomorrow. Members of the California river commission and representatives of the Imperial Valley Irrigation district, who early this week isited Governors Adams and Emerson and presented their positions, and who are still in Denver will appear, at tomorrow morning's cession and present their facts and figures the committee. Decision to fall them before the committee was reached following the request of Mr. Garfield that he would like to hear from them. In today's discussion, all of the members of the committee were agreed that construction of the All-American canal through the Imperial Valley and which has been made a part of the Boulder Canyon dam development project was entirely feasible and one that would not present many engineering difficulties.

It is expected the committee will complete its report to Secretary Work late tomorrow. Miami Woman Dies From Shock When Told Child Killed (Associated Tress Leased Win-) MIAMI, July 15. Grape Shipments For Valley Reach Total Of 23 Cars Grape shipments took a drop yesterday. One car went out of Phoenix through the Amejican Railway Eiprns, bringing the season's total to 23 cars since the movement tarted nine days ago.

Two cars have been ordered for tomorrow, one fur Phoenix and one for Peoria, but as it generally require two days to load a car at the latter station it is probable that but one car will be shipped from the Valley tomorrow. The decrease in shipments is explained by the glowers as being due to the fact that shippers are not loading any fruit that is not thoroughly sweet ami ripe, and for that reason picking is not being done eiy heavily at this time. The ahlppers are trying to maintain an excellent quality of marketable and sweet grapes throughout the season, with the result that the Ariiona fruit is commanding godd Prices and an excellent reputation in the Eastern markets.
