Marvin H. Pemberton, 81, of Phoenix, a retired real-estate broker, died Dec. 31, 1999. He was bom in Landis, and was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Strang and Marilyn Wild; four grandcluldren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was bom in China, and was an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; daugh CHAPMAN, HOWARD T. 'Chappie1, 81, died December 25, 1999 surrounded bv friends and family in Page, Arizona. He was born August 1, 1918 in Phoenix and had retired to Lake Powell with his wife, Tolietha, in 1975. Chappie served with the Fighting VAAF21B In World War II and received his discharge and Air Medal as Captain in the Marines In June of 1945.

He flew for the US Geological Service from 1952 until his retirement. Chappie was preceded In death bv his wife, Tolietha, and son, Robert Thomas Chapman. He is survived bv his daughters, Roberta Dunlap of Peoria, Arizona, Janefta Doctor of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Tolietha Haines of Phoenix, Lae Skeffington of Grass Valley, California; his daughter-in-law, Julie Chapman of Grass Valley, California; grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Her childhood was spent in Lake Bluff, IL She attended Indiana University where she was In the Delta Gamma sorority. She also attended Southern Seminary Junior College In Virginia. Her fashion and modeling career blossomed while living In Phoenix, AZ, where she free-lance modeled for Saks 5th Avenue, Goldwaters, and L.S. Avers, among others, as well as appearing in television commercials promoting tourism in the Southwest. She also appeared In Life Magazine.
