Her study was confined mainly to Chicago where she attended the Northwestern TJniversity Chautauqua work was done principally in Iowa.

Yet with work and pleasure intermixed Miss Burgess spent a most enjoyable summer, visits through the Pacific coast states counterbalancing everything. Three more shows per week and Tempe people will be afforded a chance to witness productions by the movies Just three hundred and sixty-five days in the year. And that is just now the scheme being worked on bv the local show managers, Messrs. G. A and Wm Goodwin.

GIN MACHINERY HERE Manager Attaway reports that the new roller gins for the Mesa gin have arrived and will be installed as soon as possible. The canvas for the pick sacks have also come in and all wanting pick sacks can now get them. BIG DANCE AT AUDITORIUM There will be a big dance at the Vance auditorium next Friday night. The dance will be given by the members of the High School Athletic association for the benefit of that organization. There will, be any and all kinds of refreshments served as wanted during the dance.

Everybody is invited. VISITED IN MESA John r. Loper, Grant! Keeper of Records and Seal of the Domain of Arizona, accompanied by Grand Prelate Thomas M. Smith, visited with Damon Lodge No. 19 Knights of Pythias at the regular convention Monday night.

Professor Loper, while a member of the Mesa lodge, is kept too busy to attend regularly, but his visits are alwavs welcome! n- thr. Mesa knights. A sad and tragic accident took place last Sun7 day afternoon while Chas. Ogdeh and A. W. Henry of Winkelman were hunting between here and kel- vin as the result of which Mr. Henry now lies at the point of death in the Ray hospital with very little hope of recovery.

Messrs. Ogden and Henry had driven along the Gila river hunting and when they were near Kelvin Mr. Ogden had been out of the buggy shooting a few birds and as he was returning and just in the act of putting his gun in the vehicle it was accidental ly discharged; the full load taking effect in Mr. Henry's abdomen at close range. Realizing the serious ness of the accident Mr.

Ogden drove rapidly to the nearest hospital which was at Ray and there placed Mr. Henry under the care of Dr. Crawford who is making every effort in his behalf. Mrs. Frank Fay and daughter Miss Thelma Fay went to Tempe Sunday where Miss will enter the Normal.

Mrs. G. W. Phillips and daughter went to Tempe Sunday. Miss Phil lips expects to enter the Normal there.

George Johnson has just returned from Florence accompanied by Burns Giffin piloting a new Ford car purchased by Mr. Johnson. Mrs. H. B.

Holbrook has just returned from an extended visit with relatives in Colorado. Messrs. Kuno Doerr and H. A. Prosser of the A.

R. Co. left Sunday after a visit of several days at the local plant Mrs. G. F.

George will remain with his father here during school term where he "attends school.
