B-12 Jan. 11, '79 The Arizona Republic Esther Lawrence Obituaries C. Ashley Williams MESA G. Ashley Williams, 82, a retired cattle rancher who came here in 1964 from Riverton, died Jan. 7, 1979, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital.

Mr. Williams, 6518 E. Main, is survived by his wife, Eloise; children, Marilyn Lewis and Robert; a grandchild; two sisters and a brother. Services were Monday in Chapel of Prayer Funeral Home. ja.

i -i i i 1 Octogenarian is hospitalized after cane fight Leo Kern lost the battle and maybe his age had something to do with it. Kern, of 617 N. Third met Joe Russo-mano, of 294 N. Third near Third Avenue and Fillmore Wednesday. They argued, police said.

Then they fought, flailing each other with their canes. Kern fell to the ground during the bout. He was taken to Maricopa County Hospital with a possible broken hip. Police talked to Russomano at his home, but he was not arrested. Kern is 88 year old while his opponent is 83.

Allen Covey Services for Allen M. Covey, 62, who came to Arizona 50 years ago and had been self-employed in the shoe repair business, will be 10 a.m. Friday in Memory Lawn, 719 N. 27th Ave. Mr.

Covey, 2207 N. 50th Lane, died Jan. 8, 1979, in Maryvale Hospital. Surviving are his wife, LaVonne; daughters, Louise Daugherty, Bobby Rouse and Barbara Sue; mother, Susie A. Covey; five grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.

Walter Wind Friends of Walter Wind, 81, a World War I veteran who died Jan. 8, 1979, in Phoenix Indian Medical Center, may call after 5 p.m. Friday in Peposh Memorial Center, Laveen. Graveside rites will be Saturday morning in Maricopa Cemetery. Mr.

Wind was born in Laveen and had been a farm worker. Survivors include his wife, Alma; children, Ruby Hill, Nora Lawrence and Earl Rosalie Lewis SCOTTSDALE Rosalie M. Lewis, 82, who moved here 20 years ago from Birmingham, died Jan. 7, 1979, in Hill Haven Nursing Home. Private arrangements were made at Messinger Mortuary.

Mrs. Lewis, 1204 E. Palacio Lane, is survived by her children, Rosalie Daly and Yancey five grandchildren; a sister and a brother. Gillis Hansard Gillis R. Hansard, 56, who took a medical retirement in 1978 after nine vears as a driver for Colletti Truck died Jan.

10, 1979, in his home. Mr. Hansard, 9233 N. 11th moved here 19 years ago and was a member of Teamsters Local 104. Surviving are his wife, Grace; children, Sharon Clawson, Cathy Brandon, William Hansard and Dick Brandon; mother, Mollie; six grandchildren; a sister and three brothers.

Lawrence, 64, who lived here 20 years and had been a dress shop manager, died Jan. 8, 1979, in Bos-well Hospital. Mrs. Lawrence, 8835 W. McKenzie is survived by her husband, Clarence children, Linda Oemler and Jerry; foster children, Tom and Pat DeLaney; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers.
