He had been taken to Good Samaritan from Kingman Regional Hospital on Saturday night after apparently suffering a stroke. He was born in Hastings, and moved to Arizona in 1916. He began his 48-year law-enforcement career as a deputy sheriff in Coolidge in 1938. He went to Holbrook in 1942 as an Arizona highway patrolman and took command of the Kingman district of the Highway Patrol in 1946.
