Grider, 61, of Prescott, who came to Arizona 33 years ago from her native Boston, died Oct. 18, 1980, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Phoenix.

Mrs. Grider moved here in 1979 from Phoenix and was a member of the Prescott Central Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd; two sisters and a brother. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Bible Church, 4232 W.

Indian School, Phoenix. George Hornback Services for George D. Hornback, 58, who was a data controller for Motorola, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave.

Mr. Hornback, 3932 W. Lawrence Lane, died Oct. 18, 1980, in John C. Lincoln Hospital.

He came to Arizona 18 years ago from his native Illinois, where he was a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Mary, and three brothers. Fannie Leon SUN CITY WEST Services for Fannie Leon, 81, of 13031 Beardsley Drive, who came here in 1979 from New York City and died Oct. 18, 1980, in Boswell Memorial Hospital, will be in Brooklyn, N.Y. Friends may call Flora Grider from 2 to 5 p.m.

today at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. She was a member of the Jewish faith and is survived by a daughter, Mildred Jacobus, and two grandchildren. Martha Clancy MESA Martha A. Clancy, 75, who was a teacher in Minneapolis public schools before coming here in 1965 from hernative Wisconsin, died Oct.

18, 1980, in her residence. Mrs. Clancy, 1825 W. Emileta, is survived by three sisters. Mass will be 10 a.m.

Wednesday at the Resurrection Catholic Church, 3201 S. Evergreen Road, Tempe. Anna Weiss Services for Anna T. Weiss, 70, of 4142 N. 47th Drive, who died Oct.

18, 1980, in Phoenix General Hospital, will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Maryvale Mortuary, 6901 W. Indian School. Mrs. Weiss was born in Hyde Park, N.Y., and came to Arizona 18 years ago from Texas.

She was a member of various organizations at the Christ United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her children, Debbie Miller Albert; a brother; and three grandchildren. Janet Ann Bowen Janet Ann Bowen, 31, of 1416 E. Thomas, a registered nurse, died Oct. 17, 1980, in Doctors Hospital.

She was born in Massachusetts and came to Arizona 13 years ago. Survivors include her parents, Walter and Mary Bowen; three sisters and three brothers. Services will be at noon today at Arizona Funeral Home, 376 N. Third Ave. Clara Sherwood ST.

JOHNS Clara R. Sherwood, 86, a former high school teacher in St. Johns, died Oct. 18, 1980, in her home here. Mrs.

Sherwood was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and graduated from the Brigham Young Academy, Provo, Utah. She came here in 1920 from Snowflake. She is survived by her husband, Laurence; daughters, Dawn Heap, Ruth Schimmelbusch and Rowena Glazier; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Obituaries Edward Playans CHANDLER Edward H. Playans, 88, a former South Dakota farmer who moved here in 1979 after living 10 years in Phoenix, died Oct. 17, 1980, in Chandler Community Hospital. Mr. Playans resided at the Autumn Years Boarding Home.

Survivors include three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Glendale. Albert Bennett SCOTTSDALE Albert L.

"Lew" Bennett, 79, of 5027 E. Bloomfield Road, who owned local bars, died Oct. 18, 1980, in Phoenix Memorial Hospital. He was born in Decatur, came here in 1910 and was a past member of Phoenix Jaycees. Survivors include his wife, Doris; son, Robert; a sister; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.L. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 Adams. Margaret Castle Margaret L. Castle, 45, who was a medical technologist at St.

Joseph's Hospital, died Oct. 18, 1980, in the hospital. Mrs. Castle, 309 W. Dobson Road, was a Minnesota native and came here 25 years ago.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; stepsons, Larry and Daniel Castle; mother, Margaret Pasch; two sisters and a brother. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at A.L. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams.

Mass will be 10. a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 6200 S. Central.

Ranche Bakley Ranche Bakley, 69, of 2621 N. 30th who had been an auto mechanic, died Oct. 18, 1980, in St. Luke's Hospital. Mr.

Bakley came to Arizona in 1950 from his native New Jersey. He is survived by two sons, William and Charles. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas.

Bader Mahmood SCOTTSDALE Services for Bader Mahmood, 74, a retired salesman who died Oct. 18, 1980, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School. Mr.

Mahmood, 8780 E. McKellips, was born in Jerusalem and came to Arizona in 1977 from Connecticut. Survivors include his wife, Alice; 80n8, Dames, Louis and William; and a brother. Margaret Fullam Margaret I. Fullam, 68, who came here 28 years ago from Long Island, N.Y., died Oct.

17, 1980, in Phoenix General Hospital. Mrs. Fullam, 3037 W. Coronado, is survived by her husband, Joseph; children, Margaret Gimeney and Robert; 12 and six greatgrandchildren. Services will be 4 p.m.

today at Camelback Sunset Chapel, 301 W. Camelback. Navy restoring Dixie lighthouse MAYPORT, Fla. (AP) The Navy has begun restoration of a 131-year-old lighthouse at its base here. During the 1950s, the Navy sought to raze the structure, abandoned since 1929.

Residents objected, and in 1976 the lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Etola Parfitt SUN LAKES Services for Etola K. Parfitt, 65, who WAS a supervisor for the Department of Economic Security, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. Seventh Phoenix.

Mrs. Parfitt, 8906 Utah died Oct. 17, 1980, in her home. She moved to Phoenix in 1950 from Sheboygan, and came here in 1976 from Scottsdale. Survivors include her husband, Curtis; daughter, Kay Grothe; two sisters; three brothers; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Maria Medesha APACHE JUNCTION Maria Medesha, 75, a retired bookkeeper who came to Arizona 13 years ago from New York, died Oct. 18, 1980, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Mrs. Medesha, 10326 Adobe Road, was a member of the Lithuania Catholic Mission and Lithuania Club of Phoenix. She is survived by a son, Alfred, and two grandchildren.

Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at GibbonsBunker Desert View Chapel, 9702 E. Apache Trail. Carrie Walters Carrie S. Walters, 89, who was an operator 40 years for Southwest Bell Telephone Kansas City, before coming here in 1960, died Oct.

19, 1980, in Hillhaven Health Care Center. Mrs. Walters, 9433 N. Fifth was a Baptist and a treasurer of the Band Radio Club of Arizona. Survivors include a son, Harold Blanchard; two sisters; a brother; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunnyside Mortuary, 614 E. Townley. Frank Carroll Services for Frank M. Carroll, 54, a retired mail carrier who served in the Air Force in World War II and the Korean War, will be 2 p.m.

today at Green Acres Mortuary, 5830 W. Missouri. Mr. Carroll, 115 N. 64th Drive, died Oct.

18, 1980, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He came to Arizona in 1966 from Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Grace; children, William and Frank Carroll B.J. Clouser and M.R.

Becker; two sisters and seven grandchildren. Wilbur Thatcher MESA Graveside services for Wilbur E. Thatcher, 82, who had been a pilot for Mercury Aviation, Phoenix, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E. Apache Trail.

Mr. Thatcher, 2600 Allred, died Oct. 18, 1980, in Desert Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Naperville, and came here 26 years ago from Illinois. He had been a Mason and is survived by his wife, Carrie, and a sister.

Thomas McConnell SUN CITY Thomas E. McConnell, 70, of 10807 Kelso Drive, a retired purchasing agent for Chrysler Detroit, drownedOct. 17, 1980, in the Viewpoint Lake here. Mr. McConnell came to Sun City in 1976 from St.

Clair Shores, Mich. He was a member of the Men's Bowlers. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; children, Debi, John and Thomas; two sisters and seven grandchildren. Services will be 4 p.m. today at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N.
