Hill, a Massachusetts Institute Technology scientist who helped develop early-warning defense systems against the Soviet Union, died Monday of chronic lung disease. He was 86. As director of MIT's Lincoln, Laboratory from 1952 to 1955, Mr. Hill led the effort to develop a defense against Soviet missile aN tacks. He persuaded President Truman, to build the $2 billion Distant Early Warning, or DEW, radar system and was an adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the height of the Cold War.

1 Mr. Hill worked at MIT for 41. years. His assignments included technical leader in the school's radiation lab and director of the Plasma Fusion Center. II.

Minsky, linked moods to economic booms, busts NEW YORK. Hyman Minskyy an economics scholar whose research showed how lending pat-' terns and mood swings drivd economic booms and busts, died Thursday of pancreatic cancer. He was 77. In 1979, Charlie 4 and his wife Alice moved to Arizona to live with their daughter Pat Kuhn and her husband Harry, Alice's health needs required a lot of his time and he was always very dedicated to her needs. 3, 1996, in Sun City, AZ, following a stroke. Until this time, she was itid driving her automobile. Mrs. Lynde was a native of VT and a grauate of the New England Conservatory of Music in 1926, after which she held supervisory posts in public school districts of VT and NH until her marriage in 1934. Her choral arrangements are still available for performance.

Until her death, Mrs. Lynde was a participating member of numerous historical and lineage societies, including Mayflower Descendents. She had been NH State Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a National Vice President General from 1965-68. In 1974, she organized the Hohokam Colony of the National Society of New England Women In AZ. She served on the Board of the Sun City Symphony Orchestra Association, and later became a Guild member.

She was also a member of the Sun City Genealogical Society, and of the Church of the Palms. In 1985 Mrs. Lynde was the keynote speaker at the annual 4th of July celebration in Sun City, on 'Famous Women of the i American Revolution. Her husband, Charles Em-, ery Lynde, died in 1988. She is survived by her son Richard Lynde of California; by her daughter Martha Lynde Sheperd, by two granddaughters i and three great-grandchildren, all of VTJ; and by her sister Lucille Daggett Kaiser of VT and FL.

PATTON 86, died October 19, 1996 at Sierra Winds in Peoria of complications from a stroke. Dr. Patton was the 1995 recipient of the J. C. Penney Golden Rule Award for Education for his volunteer work with Apache School in Peoria.

He was the founder of the Sun Cities Ski Club, a founding member of the Sun City chapter of the National Organization for Women, and a member of Sun City and Sierra Winds Chess Clubs, Institute of Human Experience, American Association of University Women, University Club, Sun Cities Genealogical Society, Sun City Photo Club, and the United Nations Association. Dr. Patton was born in Milton, a graduate of Brown University ('32), received Masters degrees from Boston University ('33) and Harvard ('40), and a Doctor's degree in Education from Harvard ('43). He was a Lt. in the Navy in World War II and was an elementary school principal in Portland, Oregon for 29 years.

He is survived by his wife, Constance Candee Patton, of Peoria; son, Gardner C. of Bridgewater, NJ; daughter, Karen P. Schaefer of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and five grandsons. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Sun Cities. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Sun Cities on November 23, 1996 at 10:30 a.m.
