Marines William Henry Dean, of Phoenix, AZ, died October 1, 2002. William was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1927. William was a WWII Navy and Korean Conflict Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife Esther, daughters, Bonnie Nelson and Susan Myers; sons, James and Stanley Edwards; sisters, Mary Lou Toscano and Jeanette Berardi and 7 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N.

She was an Insurance Administrator in Phoenix, AZ. Jean is preceded in death by her sister, Jo Ann Graham. Parker Denver, CO. 80231. Margaret Alice Smith passed away peacefully on September 30, 2002 with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to lov- i. mfmwr ing Christian pa' rents, Earl Myron Morgan and Mary Irene (Sanders) Morgan on January 18, 1923.

She was raised in Shelbyville, Indiana. She attended Hamilton Elementary School, Shelbyville Junior High and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1941. She was a baton twirler at her high school's basketball games. She was the Indiana State drum majorette champion and led many festival parades. While in high school she became a member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women's friendship organization.

During World War II she served in the USO providing homeland support by greeting soldiers both going to and coming from the war. She married John Percy Smith on April 2, 1945, in Shelbyville, Indiana. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in September 1947. She enjoyed working as the personal secretary for the manager of the women's wear department at Hanny's clothing store in downtown Phoenix. She left her position to raise her children and was a very loving mother and wife.

She worked with the Kachina Elementary School PTA and her hobby was watercolor painting. Margaret regularly attended Bible study classes and her favorite bible verses were I Corinthians 13, Psalm 23 and Isaiah 41:10. She became a convert to the Catholic Church and sang in die choir at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona where she enjoyed traditional gospel hymns. Her husband and children, John Joseph, Pamela Ann Johns, Jay Phillip and Sandra Janine Nowlin and her four grandchildren, Joshua Levi Nowlin, Jacob Benjamin Nowlin, Zachary Alexander Nowlin and Margaret Elizabeth Smith and her sister Betty Grace Bottorff, survive her.

As a wonderful and loving wife and mother she always fulfilled her family's needs before her own. Her presence warmed everyone's heart that she came in contact with and her infectious smile and friendly attitude will be sorely missed. Margaret was related to James Hanks her second great grandfather who was the nephew of Nancy Hanks the mother of Abraham Lincoln making Margaret the first cousin, four generations, re-moved, of the Honorable Abraham Lincoln, the 1 6th President of the United States of America. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2002 with a Rosary and reading of scriptures at Whitney Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona.

A funeral Mass will be held on October 3, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Claret. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 North 48th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. Donations may be made to the United States Fund for Unicef children.

He retired from the Detroit Police department as a lieutenant after serving 25 years, and was a Parole Officer for Arizona Department of Corrections, Special Services lieutenant for 18 years.

Joanne Rose "Jody" Peterson, of Sun Lakes, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 in Gilbert following a lengthy illness. She was 69. Jody was born on October 9, 1932 in Kremmling, Colorado to the late John A. Rose (Morris) Burton. She moved to Arizona from Breckenridge, Colorado and worked as secretary to the Dean of Engineering at Arizona State University.

Jody is survived by her husband, Jim Peterson; daughter, Gretchen Schlechten (Brian); 3 sons: Rick Peterson (Ann), Greg Peterson (Carol), Matt Peterson'(Diane); 2 brothers: Jack and Ben Burton; 2 sisters: Shirley Hamilton and Kathy Matson and 9 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1 1 :00 A.M., Monday, October 7, 2002 at the Chapel of Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive in Chandler. Contributions to Banner Hospice, 13639 E. Denelta Delores Pine, 70, of Glendale died September 30, 2002. Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saturday October 5, 2002. Her 4 year battle with colon cancer behind her.

Sue Franklin Poe of Peoria, left her friends and family on 10 0202 at 48 years of age. Born in Phoenix, 110653. Sue spent nearly her entire life in the classroorn. first as a student at PT Coe, then to Monte Vista Grade School, and on to Camelback High School, graduating in 1971, She completed her BS and MA degrees at ASU. She entered the classroom as a high school teacher in Sierra Vista in 1975-77, followed by a year at South Mounain High, before joining the Washington Elementary District in 1978 as a dedicated math and Science teacher of 7th and 8th grade students at both Palo Verde and Royal Palm Middle Schools.

She remained a teacher until her battle with cancer forced her to leave in September 2001. Sue was a longtime member of the Washington 01 strict Education Association, where she worked with her husband on many local and state education issues. Most recently, she enjoyed meeting with a local Socrates Society, discussing and planning pworking with students and even volunteered with technical duties as a set designer, builder, and prop and costume maker for Playhouse Theatre for Children in Glendale, receiving several honors for her position there, and with Theatre Works in Peoria. She enjoyed summers camping with her family and visiting the beach, and spent many wonderful days with her parents, children and spouse in Heber. Sue is survived by her husband.

Steve, her children Rachael and Ethan, all of Peoria, her parents Bob and Evylin Franklin of Phoenix, her brother RobinW Theresa) Franklin of Fountain Hills and her sister, Becky Gene) Rodriguez of Manhattan Beach, CA, as well as a large extended family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5th at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Glendale, AZ. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 4, 2002 from 5-8 p.m.

Ryan Francis Schlesiger, 28, of Phoenix, Arizona joined the Lord on October 1, 2002 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 4, 1974, in Oma ha, NE he moved to Phoenix with his family in 1979. Ryan graduated from Deer Valley High School, attended ASU and was an entrepreneur in the bar and restaurant industry. He is survived by his parents Warren and Sharon, grandmother, Margaret Casey, brother Ken and wife Melanie Casey, sister, Jill, and husband Chad Ellis, nieces, Brittney and Hanna and nephew, Blake. uncles and cousins. Ryan will be fondly remembered by all the lives that he touched.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct 3rd from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7:30 at Lundberg Mortuary White Rose Chapel, 5310 Northern Ave in Glendale. The Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, Oct. 4th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5614 W.

Arrangements Meldrum Mortuary. Margarethe "Marge" (Sanera) Kraschneske, age 91 died September 30, 2002 in Middlefield, Ohio. She was born June 23, 1911 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Erie, Pennsylvania, MesaTempe, Arizona, Austin, Texas, and Lakewood, Ohio. For many years she was a portrait artist and an art teacher.

While living in Arizona she was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe. Her parents Leo and Regina Sanera, husband John Kraschneske and brothers Michael and Arthur Sanera preceded her in death. Marge is survived by daughters Carol (John) Ford of Concord, Ohio and Beth (John) Fisher of Phoenix, Arizona and grandchildren Megan and Eric Ford and Karen, Sara, and Jeffrey Fisher. He was born November 5, 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona. Erwin at tended Sacaton Elementary Schools, Coolidge High School and graduated from Parker High School in June 2000. He worked for Gila River Vee Quiva Casino, as an Observation Technician since July 2000. Erwin had the finest spirit and will be missed dearly by family and friends, we will always remember and cherish his loving and lovable nature and sense of humor. Survivors include a son Ja'Lonie Alonzo Jackson, companion Janelle Hutchinson, parents Ted and Cecelia Henry, a sister Tracie Evans, three brothers Cecil Jackson, Tedd Henry, and Joshua Henry.

In addition, he had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Erwin F. Jackson, and a son Erwin F. Jackson, IV. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2002 at 6:00 p.m.

at the Pima First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton. A wake will follow the service at Byron Jackson's residence on Sacaton Road and Casa Grande Highway. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 am Sat. Oct. 5, 2002 at the Pima First Presbyterian Church with interment at the Sacaton East Cemetery.

1 Archie Lavar Jones, 94, of Chandler, Arizona passed away Monday, September 30, 2002. Born April 27, 1908 in Colonia Dublan, Mexico to Fredrick William, Jr. and Llnora Payne Jones, he was the fourth of nine children. He grew up on a farm in Virden, New Mexico where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of education. In high school he was a top scholar, played the saxophone in the orchestra and starred as center on the basketball team.

Upon his father's death, while still in his teens, he assumed responsibility for his mother and her younger children by taking over the family farm. He married his sweetheart Ada Jones on October 21, 1936 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. This wedding was recorded in Ripley's Believe It Or Not because all participants, including the officiator and the legal witnesses, were Joneses. As a young man he served a mission for the L.D.S. church in Australia.

Later he and Ada served together in the Independence, Missouri mission. In Chandler, he has served as Bishop, High Counselor, Temple Sealer, and Stake patriarch. In January 1947 he moved his family to Chandler where he established a dairy on Fry Road. He served on the Board of Directors of the United Dairymen Association for many years. Throughout his life he has been a leader in the community and in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Ada J. Jones and his six children: Ada Ruth Jackson (Norman) of Sundance Utah, Keith Lavar (Karalee) of Tooele Utah, Donald Lynn (Kathryn) of Chandler, Gordon Wayne of Phoenix, Sherilyn Carpenter (Skip) of Gilbert, and Kathleen Call (Don) of Woodbridge Virginia. He has 27 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 4th from 6-8pm in the Buelcr Mortuary, 14 West Hulet Drive, Chandler and on Saturday morning 10-1 1 am in the Chandler West Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1950 West Galveston. The funeral service will follow from 1 1:30 am to 12:30 pm at the same location.

Burial will be in the Chandler Cemetery. T. i I Eva Luella Faddis, 81, passed away in Scottsdale, AZ, on September 29, 2002. She was bom at home in Dundy County, outside of Haigler, NE on March 20, 1921. Eva was one of Roy Mathews' and Edna May (Strobridge) Mathews seven children.

She was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse, served as a Hospital Apprentice First Class in the U.S. Navy and was an award winning hair stylist throughout the rest of her working life. Her parents, her two infant sisters, Edna May Mathews and Donna Jean Mathews, and her older sister Alberta Miller, preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Bernard Mathews and Dallas Mathews, her sister, Dora Olbert, her sons, Terry Faddis, Tom Faddis and Tracey Faddis, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday.

Northern Glendale, AZ. William Locke Gordon, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on September 30, 2002. William was born in Montrose, Colorado, on June 8, 1933, to Ger trude and William M. Locke. He attended schools in Montrose and moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon upon completion of high school.

There he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Lee Stiles. In his early career, William built bridges throughout Oregon. In 1969, William and Nancy and their four children moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where they resided for five years. A great opportunity presented itself for William to become a superintendent for Gosnell Development Corporation in Phoenix. A distinguished career in construction with Gosnell followed for the remainder of William's working years.

William and Nancy retired to Prescott, Arizona, in 1994. Their marriage was celebrated in a glorious 50lh anniversary party held at West Yellowstone, Montana, on August 10. Survivors include his children and spouses: Lynn and Mike Jacobs of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, Mike and Jenny Gordon of Williamsburg, Virginia, Tony and Nancy Gordon of West Yellowstone, Montana, and Kellie and Steve LaCroix of Byhalia, Mississippi. Grandchildren are: Jenna and Nikki Gordon, Jessica Cooper and Tyler Carblom and a great-grandson, Jamison Riley Cooper. His mother-in-law, Vesta Robitaille, resides in Bullhead City, Arizona, and a sister-in-law, Sharon Viets, resides in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
