140th Luke Air Force Base, AZ. Polly Risser Deters, 69, was called to injuries sustained in an automobile home suddenly May 5. 17, 2002 due accident in Tonapah, Arizona. She left behind her beloved husband Don "Buck" Deters, her sister Jackie Kramp, as well as her two children, Doug Risser and Lisa Colaw. Our mom was truly a delightful person and anyone who was lucky enough to be her friend was very blessed.

She loved crafts, her cats, and her "girls" (her roses) and had an incredible ability to bring beauty and charm to any thing she touched. Mom made friends easily in every walk of her life and her wicked sense of humor and warm chuckle tickled everyone around her. She was a hoot! She and Buck enjoyed many years of companionship as they camped, motorcycled and summered on the Mogollon Rim. We her children feel comforted in her recent rededication to Jesus Christ prior to her death, and know that our loss is only temporary, as we will see her again in heaven. She and our Dad's godliness and Christian upbringing provided us, her children, with the foundation to be who we are today.

Mom, you will always be a garden we can visit in our hearts. Thank you so much for being not just a parent but our friend as well. Memorial services will be held Thursday at the chapel of Scottsdale Bible Church, 7901 E. Shea Scottsdale, AZ. Ronald F.

They later moved to Paradise Valley and became the first farmers to irrigate land in this now fashionable residential community near Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mrs. Frank was extremely artistic and creative and during the late 1940's and 50's was the creator of the "Glad of Arizona" squaw dress line which won numerous fashion accolades. She was also acknowledged as an expert in American Indian rugs, jewelry, baskets and pottery. At various times she and her husband owned trading posts and Indian curio stores buying their products on the reservations directly from the Indian artists. In 1942, she and her husband founded the "Mesa Hosts Association" promoting tourism in Mesa and the Valley of the Sun.

While in Arizona she was a president of the Parent-Teacher Association, a Matron of the Eastern Star, Worthy Adviser of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and an active member of the Soroptimist Club and the Business and Professional Women's Club. Edith Van Dyke Fritz, passed away on May 18, 2002 peacefully at 90 years.

All of us that were close to her now feel that she is reunited with her beloved husband, Watson Fritz who passed away in 1986. Edith is survived by eldest son Van Fritz of Carlsbad, CA; eldest daughter residing here in Phoenix, son Andy Fritz residing in Scottsdale and youngest daughter Marie Fritz who lives in Pine, Az. Edith was first and foremost a wonderful 'Mom' to us all and in addition to being a homemaker she was involved in various community services. She was until her passing a member of the Board of Visitors where her specialty was floral arrangements and table centerpieces for the annual charity ball. She was also a member of the Diggers Garden Club here in Phoenix.

Her love of the garden with its flowers, trees and birds was profound and in her appreciation for the natural beauty which she cultivated SO well, inspired everyone with the magic which is found in such simple things as a single rose. Mom truly loved her garden and it showed for she knew just what to plant and where to plant it so there would be a colorful bloom of flowers all year long. As a result, we all felt blessed to have such a 'Garden Sanctuary' to go to when we wanted to visit her. Edith was a native of Arizona, born in Miami on April 21, 1912 to Ida and Cleve Van Dyke. Cleve Van Dyke, her father, was part of Arizona history in that he laid out and built the mining town of Miami during the turn of the century.

She grew up in Miami and after attending a private high school in California went on to attend the University of Arizona where she was one of the first women to be admitted into the College of Agriculture which was the beginning of her appreciation for horticulture. Edith also loved animals and we as a family have fond memories of many wonderful pets (including several batches of puppies and kittens). She always had a dog by her side and now we feel she is with them all. As a result of her love of animals, it is felt that if you should want to donate anything at the service or in lieu of flowers please send the donation to the Arizona Humane Society at 1521 W. Dobbins Rd.
