Elizabeth "Betty Jean (Jeanne)" Boyer, 78, of Cochise, AZ died May 5, 2003 at home. She was born on January 6, 1925 in Miami, AZ to Theodore Bellotte Jessie Bidle was a lifetime resident of Arizona. Jeanne was a homemaker a retired bus driver for Tucson School District She sang in the Choir at First Baptist Church in Tucson taught piano. John Milton Burroughs passed away May 6, 2003 after a cou rageous battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by the love of his life and wife of 25 years, Bev and his loving family. I He is survived by his wife, his sons, Zack and Jeff and his brother Rick. John was the proud grandfather of Morgan (Jeff). His daughter-in-law Kelly, Tom and Diane Bush, their children John and Janelle, mother-in-law Claire Hossler and his niece, Emily also survive him.

John was born in Dayton, Ohio June 30, 1938 to Edward (Murphy) and Ruth Salisbury Burroughs. He received his BS in Business Administration from Ohio State University prior to moving to California to pursue and receive an MBA from University of Southern California. After graduation, John worked in the commercial real estate field for Coldwell Banker in L.A. He moved to Phoenix in 1974 to join Burke, Hansen Homan, Inc and was a partner for 23 years. In 1998, he started The Burroughs Corporation, a real estate consulting firm.

John loved his his family and always considered his business associates his He will be remembered as a gentleman with strong character, loyalty and a true sense of what was important in his life. He had a fulfilling life, accomplishing much and receiving many accolades. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, the American Society of Real Estate Counselors (CRE), the American Institute of Appraisers (MAI), the Arizona Board of Appraisers, and various community boards. He will be missed and he will be remembered always. Services will be held at 3PM Friday at Paradise Valley United Church (4455 E.

Fitzgerald, passed into eternal life on Monday, May 5, 2003 while surrounded by her caring family. Norma was born Norma S. Martinez in St. Johns, AZ on November 26, 1939 to Gilbert and Elsie Martinez.

Surviving are her devoted husband, William, whom she married in 1972; sisters Jolene Martinez, Jeanetta Martinez of Phoenix, Paula Garcia of Clayton, NM and brothers Gilbert of California and Ralph of Phoenix. Her son, Edward Lamm, is Dean of Admissions at Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. Her three grandchildren live in Fayette, MO. Norma went to St. Mary's High School until 1955, when she entered the Convent of Sisters of St.

Francis, Manitowoc, WI. She was professed and taught in various locations in Wisconsin and in Yuma, AZ. In 1970 she joined her Mission Community in Lima, Peru but became ill and returned to Wisconsin. After teaching at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Phoenix, she began a long career teaching in local Public Schools in the greater Phoenix area. She served on the Parish Council of St.

Augustine's Church and with her husband was a Eucharistic Minister there. With her husband she belonged to the New Ministry group which gave support and guidance to exreligious during the early 1970's. She served on the School Board at Pendergast School District. She was a Realtor with Century 21 at various Phoenix offices. She spent her final teaching years in Avondale Elementary School District.

She coordinated Vision services of the Goodyear Lions and supplied glasses for many school children on the west side. Her motto was "Whatever you give away will come back to you someday." On Friday, May 9, from 5 to 8pm, there will be visitation at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, 8502 West Pinchot, Phoenix, 85037. Rosary at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be at the same Benedictine Monastery on Saturday, May 10 at 10am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 West Thomas Rd.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, April 19, 1936 graduating, School from in James, Madison High Brooklyn, and then achieving an AA degree from Glendale Community College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the New York City, Fire Department from to 1962, and the Phoenix Police Department from 1962 to 1966. He had a 35 year career with the Arizona Insurance Industry, and retired from the Arizona State Compensation fund in June of 2001. He was the president of the Phoenix Festival of music in 1991 and 1993 whose artistic director was John Massard, and was the president of the Phoenix Symphony Friends in 1 and He was also a published poet, having written "Word Etchings" in 1975.

was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a two year honor society. He enjoyed ocean sailing, and playing golf with his friends of almost 40 years. His greatest pleasure, however was his wife of 43 years, Benita. His daughter Tracey Theisen, and Shawn Tyslenko, as well as his grandchildren, Alexandra and Connor Theisen also survive him. He was a sincere, honest man, called friend by many, and miss him greatly.

Visitation will be held Thursday May 8, 2003 from P.M. at Regency, Mortuary, 9850 W. Thunderbird Road, Sun AZ, with a funeral service Friday, May 9, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at Phoenix Memorial Park.

Joan "Jo" McNeill Hill, Phoenix native, died May 3, 2003 at 81. Born October 26, 1921, she graduated from PUHS in 1939 and ASU (ASTC) 1943. She served her country during WWII in the Marine Corps. She taught at PUHS before marrying and John Dignity Arnold Hill devoting herself to her family. She is survived by son John Tucker Hill of Seattle, daughter Peggy Abrams of Phoenix, and grandchildren Lani, Matthew, and Robyn Abrams.

Brian Hoffman, 49, of Peoria, suddenly died on May 4, 2003. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Hoffman. Loss, born in Cleveland, Ohio December 10, 1936 May 5, 2003. Jim is survived by his loving wife Amy, son Sam (Tisa), daughter Marnie Katie, Morgan, Ellen and and sister-in-law Dot Donkin. A 1959: graduate of Lehigh University, Jim joined the Air Force in 1960 and served until 1968 when forced to take a medical retirement due to a serious aircraft accident. In 1968 Jim and his family moved to Phoenix. He was a graduate from Arizona State University Law School in 1972, after which he worked as an Assistant U.S.

Attorney until his retirement in 1994. In addition to his family, the love of Jim's life was golf. He played in the Phoenix area in the winter and at Pinewood in Munds Park in the summer. All will sorely miss Jim's marvelous sense of humor and quick wit. Funeral service will be held on Friday, 1pm, Camelback Sunset Chapel, 301 W.

She was born in Rotan, Texas on March 27, 1913, and moved to Arizona with her family about 1920. She went home to be with the Lord On April 30, 2003 in Phoenix. A graduate of Phoenix Union High School and Lamson Business College, she served in the WAVES (women's Navy) during World War Il. Miss Maben was a founding member of the faculty, staff and student body (simultaneously) of Grand Canyon University, where, after attaining a higher degree at Baylor University, she taught history courses for over 25 years, and was named a Professor Emeritus. She was a founding member of Laveen Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities, including playing piano, directing the choir, and teaching Sunday School classes from 1939.

Her other interests included gardening, and she was a founding member of the Sun Country Iris Society. After retirement from Grand Canyon, she became curator of the Arizona Southern Baptist Historical Society. Clarice is survived by her brother, Rev. Jack Maben of San Diego, California; 5 nieces and nephews, 29 great-nieces and nephews, and two more generations. plus, numerous "adopted" daughters, students at Grand Canyon.

A memorial celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Laveen Baptist Church, 5036 W. Dobbins Road, Lawn, Arizona..
